파주시는 파주시새마을회(회장 김경선)가 6월 17일 금릉 공릉천 광장에서 최종환 파주시장 및 파주시새마을회 회원 300여명이 참석한 가운데 새마을 환경봉사단 ‘새벽종’ 발대식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이대재 새벽종 단장은 “오늘 발대식에 관심을 가지고 참여해 주신 모든 분들께 진심으로 감사드린다”며 “새마을 환경봉사단 ‘새벽종’의 활동이 하나의 문화로 자리잡을 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

신경재 새마을지도자파주시협의회장은 “새벽종 봉사단의 줍깅 운동은 일상생활 속에서 탄소중립을 실천할 수 있는 활동”이라며, “줍깅이 시민들의 자율적인 운동으로 확산돼 깨끗한 파주시 만들기에 기여할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
