세종시의회 이태환 의장이 30일 의회청사 대회의실에서 열린 퇴임식을 끝으로 공식 임기를 마감했다.
이날 세종시의회 사무처 전 직원은 이임식에 참석해 지난 2년간 제3대 후반기 의장직을 수행해온 이태환 의장의 퇴임 순간을 함께했다.
이태환 의장은 퇴임사에서 “제3대 세종시의회가 맺은 결실은 지금 이 자리에 모인 의회사무처 전 직원들의 노력과 의지가 있었기에 가능했다”면서 “그동안 여러 방면에서 힘써주신 사무처 전 직원들에게 고마움과 함께여서 행복했다는 말씀도 드리고 싶다”고 말했다.
이어 이태환 의장과 사무처 직원들은 꽃다발 증정과 기념 촬영, 의회청사 앞 환송을 통해 석별의 장을 나눴다.
한편, 이 의장은 제3대 후반기 의회를 이끌며 ‘언론브리핑 정례화’와 ‘예산안 심의 자료 공개’, ‘코로나19에 대비한 온라인 의정연수 실시’를 비롯해 ‘대한민국시도의회의장협의회 사무실 세종 이전’ 등의 성과를 남겼다.
또, 전국 지방의회와 연대를 통해 32년 만의 지방자치법 전부개정과 국회세종의사당 및 대통령 세종집무실 설치를 확정하는 데 기여했다는 평가를 받고 있다.
