고양시가 후원하고 킹오브트랙조직 위원회 한세I&T(대표 이세행)가 주최하는 도심형 자전거 대회인 ‘킹오브트랙(KING OF TRACK)’이 오는 16일 일산문화공원에서 개최된다.
올해로 16번째, 고양시에서는 7번째로 개최되는 킹오브트랙은 국내.외 선수뿐만 아니라 일반인도 참가하는 대회다.

경기는 로드와 트랙, 남성과 여성 종목으로 구분되어 진행되며 이번 대회에 참가하는 선수만 300명이 넘을 것으로 예상된다.
행사날에는 크리테리움(통제된 도심구간을 여러 주회로 달리는 도심형 레이스) 경기와 함께 부대행사로 자전거 퍼레이드 및 자전거 안전캠페인이 실시된다.

시는 고양특례시민에게 자전거 안전이용 5대 원칙을 홍보하고 자전거 산업전 부스를 통한 볼거리도 제공할 예정이다.
시 관계자는 “국내 유일한 아마추어 도심형 레이스이자 국제적인 자전거 동호인 대회인 킹오브트랙을 지원하는 것은 자전거 친화 도시 고양시를 세계에 알리는 일”이라며 “지속적으로 자전거 활성화 정책을 추진해 자전거 문화를 선도하는 고양특례시가 되겠다”고 전했다. 고양=박정호기자
