[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도가 전국 처음으로 공원묘원에 플라스틱 조화 사용 근절 추진에 나서 눈길을 끌고있다.
도는 19일 (사)전국공원묘원협회 부울경지회, (사)한국화훼자조금협의회, 영남화훼원예농협과 친환경 추모 문화 정착을 위한 ‘공원묘원 플라스틱 조화 사용 근절’ 업무 협약을 체결했다.
경남 지역에서는 매년 177t 가량의 합성섬유?중금속이 함유된 조화가 발생하고, 소각과 매립으로 조화 폐기물이 처리되면 환경과 인체에 악영향을 끼칠 수 있는 문제가 발생하고 있다.
이에 경남도는 도내 공원묘원 전역에 플라스틱 조화의 사용 근절 대책을 수립했고, 광역 단위에서 전국 최초로 협약에 이르게 됐다.
전국공원묘원협회에 가입되어 있지 않은 공원묘원까지 시군에서 개별적으로 협약을 체결하고, 지속적인 홍보로 생화를 사용하도록 선도해 나갈 계획이다.
이날 협약식은 하병필 경상남도 행정부지사를 비롯해 최치광 (사)전국공원묘원협회 부울경지회 고문, 김윤식 (사)한국화훼자조금협의회 회장, 김성관 영남화훼원예농협 조합장이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.
협약에 따라 경남도는 조화 사용의 근절을 정착시키기 위해 도민들의 인식 전환과 실천을 위한 홍보, 모니터링과 성과관리 등 행정적인 지원을 하게 된다.
협약기관은 생화 사용 등을 통해 플라스틱 폐기물 배출량 저감에 동참하고, 생화 판매 활성화를 위한 상품 개발에 노력하기로 했다.
경남도는 친환경 추모문화 확산과 함께 플라스틱 폐기물 감량을 통한 탄소중립 실현에 기대를 모으고 있다.
지속적인 사후관리를 통해 조화 근절의 안정적인 정착을 위한 개선대책을 마련하고, 도민들의 환경인식을 개선하기 위해 홍보해 나갈 계획이다.
하병필 행정부지사는 “이번 협약은 도내 화훼농가에 도움이 되는 상생협력의 모범사례가 될 것”이라며 “경남도는 2050탄소중립 실현을 위해 탈플라스틱 사회로 전환하고, 환경적인 사회공헌 방안에 대해서 관계기관과 협력을 지속적으로 이어나가는 데에 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
