국가철도공단 강원본부는 더 나은 미래를 위한 ESG 경영실천에 동참하고 전 직원 탄소중립 생활화를 위해 원주지속가능발전협의회와 ‘ESG 가치 이행 업무협약’을 맺었다고 21일 밝혔다.
이번 협약은 날로 심각해지는 기후위기에 대응하기 위해 일상 속 실천 가능한 탄소중립 이행방안 모색을 위해 추진됐다.
양 기관은 ▲ 효율적인 탄소중립 실천을 위한 지식, 정보, 인프라 등의 원활한 업무 교류와 협조 ▲ ESG 가치 실천을 위한 친환경 사업과 지역사회 기여 프로그램의 발굴·시행 등에 상호 협력하기로 했다.
이날 강원본부는 협약 이행의 첫 걸음으로 청렴과 청정을 모토로 청정수호대를 발족하고 업무협약식에 이어 청렴캠페인을 함께 시행했으며, 기후변화홍보관을 견학하며 일상생활 속 탄소중립 실천에 대해 현장에서 배우는 시간도 가졌다.
앞으로 강원본부는 청사 내 탄소중립마켓 운영을 시작으로 탄소중립 캠페인, 제로웨이스트 클래스 등 ESG 가치 실천을 위한 다양한 프로그램을 추진해 나갈 계획이다.
양인동 강원본부장은 “국제사회의 공통 관심사인 환경보호를 위한 개개인의 노력이 절실한 시기에 꼭 필요한 업무협약이라고 생각한다.”며, "탄소중립 실천 프로그램을 전문적으로 추진해 온 협의회의 도움을 받아 강원본부의 ESG 역량을 선도적으로 발전시켜 나갈 계획"이라고 전했다.
