파주시는 민주평화통일자문회의 파주시협의회(회장최정윤)에서 지난 22일 서울시 동작구협의회와 자매결연 협약식을 가졌다고 밝혔다.

이날 협약식은 전쟁의 상흔과 평화를 되새기는 임진각 평화누리 증기기관차 앞에서 파주시와 동작구 협의회의 임원진 14명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.
이번 협약을 통해 ▲평화통일 관련 정보 교류 ▲공동 세미나 개최 ▲평화통일의 주역이 될 청소년들에게 평화통일관 제고를 위한 평화·통일 관련 프로그램 개발 추진 등 한반도 평화와 번영의 기반 조성을 위한 역할을 수행해 나가기로 뜻을 함께했다.

최정윤 민주평통 파주시협의회장은 “협약체결을 시작으로 양 협의회가 다양한 분야에 지속적으로 교류해 평화통일 공감대 조성을 위한 협력사업을 추진하며 좋은 인연을 이어나가길 기대한다”고 말했다.
한편, 민주평통 파주시협의회는 기존 제주시협의회, 마포구협의회 등과도 자매결연을 통해 평화통일 기반조성과 남북관계 관련 의견을 나누는 등 기관·단체 간 우호 증진과 지역사회 발전을 위한 다양한 협력 사업을 추진하고 있다. 파주=박정호기자
