고양시의회는 26일 신규 임용된 정책지원관 8명(일반임기제공무원 7명 및 의회직원 1명)에게 임용장을 수여했다.
정책지원관 채용은 지난 1월 13일 개정된 지방자치법 시행으로 새롭게 도입되는 제도로 의원의 의정활동 지원하는 전문 인력을 둘 수 있게 되는 것이다.
올해는 의원 정수의 1/4 범위에서 채용하고 내년에는 1/2 범위로 연차적으로 도입될 예정이다.
이날 임용된 정책지원관은 기획행정?환경경제?건설교통?문화복지 전문위원실에 각 2명씩 배치돼 의원들의 ▲조례안 작성 ▲행정사무감사 ▲예?결산 ▲정책개발 등 의정활동과 관련된 자료 수집·조사·연구 및 그에 수반되는 활동에 대한 실무지원을 하게 된다.

김영식 의장은 “제9대 고양시의회 의원들의 의정활동을 보좌해 줄 정책지원관이 임용됐으니 의회의 역량과 전문성이 강화될 것으로 기대된다”고 말했다.
