[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 의령군이 농업 경쟁력 향상과 농번기 일손 부족 해결을 위해 방글라데시 해외고용서비스공사(BOESL)와 외국인 계절근로자 도입을 위한 업무 협약식을 4일 개최했다.
이날 협약식에는 방글라데시 정부기관을 대표해 주한방글라데시 모끼마 베곰 참사관이 직접 의령군을 방문해 자리를 빛냈다.
외국인 계절근로자 프로그램은 농업의 특성상 단기간에 집중적인 일손이 필요하나 농촌인구 감소, 고령화로 일손 부족 현상이 반복되는 농어촌 지자체의 어려움을 해결하기 위해 마련된 제도이다.
의령군은 올 초 미얀마와 계절근로자 도입을 위한 MOU를 추진했으나 미얀마의 국가비상사태 등 국내 정세 불안으로 인해 논의를 중단하고 방글라데시와 업무협약을 위해 노력했다.
모끼마 베곰 참사관은 “대한민국과 방글라데시 양국은 지난 50년간 깊은 우정을 바탕으로 호혜적인 관계를 지속하고 있다”라며 “방글라데시 근로자들에게 취업의 기회를 제공한 의령군에 감사함을 전한다”고 말했다.
모끼마 베곰 참사관은 방글라데시 농업 강국으로 농업 분야에 엄청난 경험과 성공 사례를 축적하고 있다며 의령군에 고용기회와 더불어 생산량 증대를 위한 기술 제공 의사도 밝혔다.
