[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] ‘가덕도신공항 배후도시 개발구상 수립용역’의 착수보고회를 개최하고 신공항 건설에 대비한 경남도 공항 배후도시 및 접근성 강화를 위한 밑그림을 그리는 작업에 본격적으로 속도를 낸다고 밝혔다.
가덕도신공항은 지난해 3월 ‘가덕도신공항 건설을 위한 특별법’이 제정됨에 따라 국가사업으로 확정됐고 국토교통부에서 사전 타당성 용역을 추진해 사업계획을 마련했다.
이를 기반으로 기획재정부에서는 예비타당성 조사를 면제하고 사업계획 적정성 검토를 진행하고 있다.
국토부는 후속절차인 기본계획 수립과 전략환경영향평가 용역을 위해 행정절차를 이행하고 있다.
경남도는 신공항 건설에 따른 인근 지자체 특성을 반영한 실효성 있는 개발계획을 수립하기 위해 창원·김해·거제시와 협약서 체결 등의 사전 절차를 거쳐 공동으로 용역을 추진하고 있다.
이번 착수보고회에는 경남도와 공동 발주기관인 창원, 김해, 거제 3개 시 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 용역수행기관인 경남연구원과 ㈜유신이 착수보고를 했으며 용역 추진에 대한 질의 답변과 향후 추진 방향을 논의하는 시간을 가졌다.
특히 이번 용역은 가덕도신공항 개항에 따른 유발효과를 극대화하기 위해 선제적 공간계획을 마련하고 광역교통 시설 확충계획과 주거단지, 숙박, 여가, 항공, 물류산업 등 관련 업종의 성장을 견인하기 위한 체계적인 공항 배후도시 개발계획 수립을 목적으로 하고 있다.
과업의 내용은 크게 배후도시 기본구상 및 사업타당성 조사 분석, 광역교통망 계획 수립으로 나뉜다.
배후도시 예정지 현황조사부터 종합 계획을 수립하고 신공항 건설에 따른 경남도민들의 이용 편의를 위해 철도·도로·도심항공교통 등 다양한 교통수단을 포함하는 광역교통망 계획을 검토·수립할 계획이라고 전했다.
이번 용역 결과물은 국토부의 가덕도신공항 건설 기본계획에 반영할 기반자료로 국토부 등 관계기관의 국가계획에 반영할 계획이라고 전했다.
또한 신공항 배후지역에 물류거점 조성을 위해 국비를 확보해 공간개발전략 수립, 물류·항공·첨단 산업 등 고부가가치 산업 육성과 세계적 기업 등 민간자본의 성공적 유치를 위한 전략 마련에도 행정력을 집중할 계획이라고 전했다.
