고양시가 한류수변공원에서 하천 정화 활동과 한류천의 왕별꽃 서식지 보호활동을 펼쳤다고 25일 밝혔다.
이번 하천정화 활동은 한국수자원 조사기술원에서 자연환경복원 활동의 일환으로 실시했다.
한국수자원 조사기술원은 고양시하천사랑연구회, 고양줌센터와 함께 여름철 하천 수온 상승에 따른 수질 개선 및 악취 저감을 위해 하천에 EM흙공 300여개를 던졌다.

EM흙공은 유용미생물 EM용액과 황토를 공 모양으로 만들어 2주정도 발효한 것이다.
하천에 투여하면 하천 바닥의 오염물을 분해해 수질개선 및 악취제거 효과가 있다.
한류천은 왕별꽃 서식지이기도 하다.
왕별꽃은 백두산 부근에 자생하는 꽃으로 이 꽃의 서식지를 보호하기 위하여 주변의 단풍잎돼지풀 등 생태교란종을 제거하고 말뚝을 박아 경계 테두리를 설치했다.
