[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 산청군은 오는 10월 9일부터 22일까지 제49회 지리산평화제를 개최한다고 26일 밝혔다.
군은 25일 ‘제49회 지리산평화제’ 개최를 위한 총회를 열고 평화상 시상계획 등의 안건을 심의·의결했다.
이에 따라 오는 10월 9일 지리산 산신제를 시작으로 22일까지 평화상 시상, 군민체육대회, 지리산 원혼위령제 등이 열린다.
특히 평소 지역사회 발전을 위해 다양한 분야에서 헌신·노력한 인물을 발굴하는 지리산 평화상의 주인공에 귀추가 주목된다.
산청군은 평화상 시상계획 공고 후 추천서를 접수받아 심사위원회의 심사를 거쳐 오는 10월 10일 군민체육대회 개막식에서 시상할 계획이다.
심사위원회 심의 결과 적격자가 없는 경우 수상자를 선정하지 않는다.
이승화 산청군수는 “지리산평화제는 6·25전쟁을 전후로 지리산 지역에서 희생된 영령들의 넋을 위로하고 군민 화합과 군 발전을 기원하기 위해 해마다 10월에 열고 있다”고 행사 의의를 설명했다.
