김태흠 충남도지사가 아산만 일대를 글로벌 메가시티로 육성하고, 충남서산공항, 가로림만 국가해양정원 조성 등 서산의 굵직한 현안 해결에 앞장서겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다.
김 지사는 30일 민선 8기 시군 방문 6번째와 7번째 방문지인 아산시와 서산시를 찾아 큰 목표와 강한 추진력으로 결과물을 만들어 내겠다고 약속했다.
먼저, 아산시를 방문한 김 지사는 박경귀 시장과의 환담에서 현안사항을 청취하고, 기자간담회와 의회를 방문한 뒤 시민들과 미래 발전을 주제로 소통하는 시간을 가졌다.
박 시장이 건의한 아산나들목(IC) 진입도로(온양대로 2-17호) 개설 공사와 신정호 자연환경보전·이용시설 설치는 도비 지원을 적극 검토하기로 했다.
김 지사는 “내년 상반기에 천안-아산 고속도로가 개통하는 만큼 개통시기에 맞춰 아산나들목 진입도로 공사1구간(모종동)의 연내 준공을 위해 도비를 지원할 예정”이라며, “신정호 관련 사업 역시 올해 도비 19억 원을 지원해 추진 중이고, 사업 진척도 등 일정에 맞춰 내년 20억 원을 추가 지원할 예정”이라고 말했다.
아산시청 시민홀에서 시민 등 500여 명과 함께한 시민과의 대화에서는 민선8기 핵심과제인 베이밸리 메가시티 건설을 제시했다.
김 지사는 “베이밸리 메가시티 조성은 저의 임기 1호 결재로, 민선8기 핵심과제”라며 “충남북부, 경기남부를 아우르는 아산만 일대를 반도체, 디스플레이, 수소경제 등 대한민국 4차산업을 선도하는 글로벌 메가시티로 육성하겠다”고 강조했다.

서산시에서는 △충남서산공항 완성 △가로림만 연륙교 건설 △가로림만 국가해양정원 조성 등의 청사진을 제시했다.
김 지사는 서산 문화회관에서 이완섭 시장과 시민 등 500여 명이 참석한 시민과의 대화를 통해 “20년 묵은 도민의 숙원인 서산공항을 완성해 국제 관광벨트로 발돋움 할 것”이라며 “속도감 있는 가로림만 연륙교 건설과 가로림만 국가해양정원 조성으로 ‘해뜨는 서산’의 밝은 미래를 그리겠다”고 밝혔다.
서산공항 건설은 오는 9월 예비타당성 조사를 통과하면 기본계획 수립 및 설계를 진행할 계획으로, 2027년 개항과 동시에 취항할 수 있도록 항공사 유치 활동도 적극 전개할 예정이다.
가로림만 연륙교 건설은 국가균형발전 및 경제 활성화를 위해 제5차 국도·국지도 건설 계획(2021～2025)에 수정 반영 할 수 있도록 정부와 국회에 강하게 건의한다는 방침이다.
