[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 함안군이 세계유산등재를 추진 중인 함안 말이산고분군이 15일 가야고분군으로는 처음으로 문화재청이 주관하는 ‘2023 세계유산 미디어아트 공모사업’에 최종 선정됐다.
문화재청의 세계유산 미디어아트 공모사업은 국내 세계유산의 역사적·유산적 가치를 프로젝션 맵핑, 인터렉티브 아트 등 최신 디지털 기술을 활용해 보다 실감나고 재미있게 대중들에게 알리는 사업으로 문화유산의 원형에 영향을 미치지 않으며 다양한 방식으로 활용할 수 있다는 점에서 최신 트렌드로 주목받고 있다.
올해는 그동안 세계유산으로 한정한 공모대상을 전체 문화유산으로 확대됐으며 1차 서류심사를 통해 선정된 19개의 사업에 대해 2차로 발표심사를 거쳐 함안 말이산고분군을 포함한 8개의 사업이 최종 선정됐다.
사업비는 국비와 지방비 등 총12억 2000만원이다.

함안군은 그동안 가야사 사업을 통해 축적된 연구 성과와 발굴조사 자료를 바탕으로 아라가야 역사의 극적인 장면을 흥미로운 스토리로 구성하고 이를 프로젝션 맵핑, 인터랙티브 아트, AR, 홀로그램 등 다양한 ICT 기술을 통해 구현할 계획이다.
함안군 조신규 가야사담당은 “2018년부터 본격적으로 추진된 말이산고분군 발굴조사로 별자리와 봉황장식 금동관을 비롯해 보물로 지정예고된 상형토기와 중국 남조의 청자 등 그동안 알려지지 않은 중요 역사적 자료들이 확보됐다”고 말했다.
이어 “이들 자료를 바탕으로 세계유산등재를 추진 중인 말이산고분군의 세계유산적 가치, 역사성과 더불어 더 큰 국가로 성장하기 위해 노력했던 아라가야의 모습을 디지털 기술을 이용해 1500년 전 아라가야로 시간여행을 할 수 있는 기회를 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.
