브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 더불어민주당은 13일 이재명 대표가 보유 중인 주식을 전량 처분했다고 밝혔다.
민주당은 이날 기자들에게 보낸 문자메시지를 통해 "이재명 대표는 방위산업 관련주로 거론되는 주식을 오늘 오전 전량 매각했다"고 전했다.
이어 "국회 등에 청구한 백지신탁 심사 절차와 무관하게 상임위 활동과 관련한 불필요한 오해를 불식하기 위한 결정"이라고 설명했다.
민주당 관계자에 따르면 이 대표는 지난 4월말 주식을 매수했으며 이날 매도를 통해 약 15% 정도를 손해본 것으로 알려졌다.
지난달 27일 공개된 국회의원 재산 공개 내역에 따르면 이재명 대표는 한국조선해양 주식 1670주, 현대중공업 주식 690주를 보유하고 있다고 신고했다. 약 2억3125만원 상당을 매수했는데, 구입 자금은 기존 예금해둔 자산을 사용했다.
한편 이 대표 측에선 주식 보유에 대해 국방위 활동과는 관련이 없으며 오해를 사지 않기 위해 2개월여 전 백지신탁 심사도 청구해 심사결과를 기다리고 있는 중이라고 해명했으나, 국민의힘측에선 국방위를 떠나야 한다며 맹비판을 가했다.
성일종 국민의힘 정책위원장은 12일 자신의 페이스북을 통해 "국방 관련 전문성이 하나도 없는 이재명 대표가 왜 국회에서 소속 상임위를 굳이 국방위원회로 선택했을까? 항상 궁금했다. 이제야 그 이유를 똑똑히 알겠다"면서 "2억 3100만 원이나 방산업체 주식을 가지고 계셨군요. 뭐를 얼마나 해 먹으려고 군대도 안 다녀오신 분이 국방위로 오셨습니까"라고 비꼬았다.
