[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 13일부터 3일간 창원시 일원에서 ‘제1회 창원특례시장배 장애인생활체육대회’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
2018년 창원시장애인체육회 설립 이후 코로나 19의 여파로 진행되지 못해, 올해 처음으로 개최된 시장배 장애인생활체육대회는 장애인들이 한자리에 모여 재활과 자립 의지를 높이고 체육인으로서의 사회참여를 확산시키기 위해 마련됐다.
14일 창원축구센터 족구장에서 가진 개회식에는 홍남표 창원특례시장, 정길상 시의회 문화환경도시위원장을 비롯해 창원시장애인체육회 관계자 및 선수단 500여 명이 참석했다.

특히 이번 대회에서는 다양한 종목의 체험 부스가 운영되었으며, 장애인들의 체력향상을 위해 인제대 조정팀이 직접 체험 부스를 만들었으며, 지체장애인들의 특성상 앉아서 할 수 있는 조정을 통해 근력운동으로 건강한 신체를 단련할 수 있다고 소개했다.
홍남표 창원특례시장은 “이번 대회가 장애의 유무가 장애가 되지 않는 생활체육인들의 화합의 장이 되기를 바란다”며 “앞으로 약자와 동행하는 도시 창원을 만들기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
