브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이재명 더불어민주당 대표는 21일 본인의 최측근 인사인 김용 민주연구원 부원장이 대선자금 명목의 불법 정치자금 수수 혐의로 구속영장이 청구된데 대해 "저는 단 1원의 사적 이익도 취하지 않았다"며 대장동 특검을 제안했다.
이재명 대표는 이날 오전 국회에서 특별 기자회견을 열고 "저는 대선자금은 커녕 사탕 하나 받은 것이 없다. 보수 정부와 맞부딪치며 살아남는 유일한 길은 유능하되 청렴해야 했다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 "검찰이 이 사건을 수사한지 1년도 훨씬 넘었다. 실패하면 또 다른 시도를 할 것"이라며 "이젠 적정하게 진실을 공정하게 규명하고 종결할 때가 됐다. 사건을 만들어 내는 게 수사는 아니다"고 주장했다.
이어 그는 "기억하겠지만 대선 토론회에서 저는 특검을 하자고 했다. 그런데 이상한 핑계를 대면서 사실상 특검을 거부한 게 국민의힘"이라며 "대통령과 여당이 떳떳하다면 특검을 거부할 이유는 없을 것이다. 언제까지 인디안 기우제식 수사에 국가 역량을 소진할 수는 없다. 뿌리부터 줄기 하나까지 사건 전모 확인은 특검에 맡기고 정치권은 민생 살리기에 총력을 다하자"고 제안했다.
이 대표는 또 "지금까지 제기된 모든 의혹을 총망라해야 한다. 모든 의혹을 남김없이 털어낼 좋은 기회"라며 "대장동 개발 및 화천대유에 관한 실체 규명은 물론 결과적으로 비리 세력 종자돈을 지켜준 대통령의 부산저축은행 부정 수사 의혹 및 허위사실 공표 의혹, 대통령 부친 집을 김만배 누나가 구입한 경위 등 화천대유 자금 흐름 진술이 갑자기 변경되는 과정에서 제기된 조작 수사와 허위진술 교사 의혹도 밝혀야 한다"고 촉구했다.
그러면서 "(대장동 특검은) 대통령 부인에 대한 특검과는 아무 관련이 없다"고 강조하기도 했다.
이 대표는 지난 1년간 저는 특검하길 진심으로 원했다. 이렇게 질질 끌면서 극단적인 경우 사건 관련자 회유를 통한 사건의 왜곡 조작이 얼마든지 있을 수 있다고 봐 특검을 원했다"며 "(여당은) 부산저축은행 수사 문제를 빼야 한다든지 앞으론 동의하면서 뒤론 발목을 잡았다. 이번엔 국민을 속이지 말고 특검하잔 말씀을 드리고 만약 발목잡기로 시간을 끌고 사실상 거부하면 국민이 맡긴 권한을 행사하는 게 옳지 않겠냐는 게 제 생각"이라고 거듭 특검을 촉구했다.
김용 부원장에 제기된 혐의와 관련해선 "정치후원금인지 뭔지 모르겠다. 합법적 범위 내에선 알 수 없다. 나중에 혹시 정치자금으로 낸 게 있는지는 확인해 보겠다"면서 "분명한 것은 법이 허용하지 않는, 옳지 않은 돈을 낸 건 전혀 없다. 개인적으로 받은 것도 없다"고 주장했다.
또한 김 부원장에 대해서도 "오랫동안 함께한 사람이고 지금도 여전히 그의 결백을 믿는다"고 기존 입장을 재차 밝혔다.
