[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 고성군이 12월 2일부터 4일까지 고성읍 기월리 251-3번지 일원에서 고성 독수리 생태 축제를 개최한다.
독수리 축제는 매년 11월 중순 즈음 몽골에서 겨울을 나기 위해 고성으로 날아온 독수리를 환영하고 보호하기 위해 열린다.
사단법인 한국조류협회 경남고성군지회에서 주최·주관하고 2020년부터 이어져 올해 3회째를 맞이한다.
축제에 앞서 12월 2일 고성박물관에서의 한국·몽골 독수리 국제 심포지움으로 고성독수리 생태 축제의 의미를 되새긴다.
심포지움에서는 고성의 독수리 보호 활동을 널리 알리고 독수리 보존관리를 위한 정책 수립과 구체적인 실행방안을 논의할 예정이다.
이어 독수리 보호를 위해 고성군과 몽골대학교, 부산대학교간 협력체계를 구축할 계획이다.
본격적인 축제 시작일인 12월 3일 각종 체험과 독수리 먹이탐조가 열리며 전시관에서는 몽골에서 서식하는 늑대, 붉은여우, 삵 박제와 몽골의 풍경 및 독수리 사진 전시회가 준비돼 있다.
축제 기간 독수리 비행기 날리기 제정구 판잣집 저금통 만들기 독수리 부리마스크 만들기 마동호의 새 열쇠고리 만들기 메뚜기 멀리뛰기 독수리 에코백 만들기 등 다양한 체험이 기획돼 남녀노소 즐겁게 생태 관광을 즐길 수 있다.
또한 독수리 빵을 무료로 시식할 수 있어 볼거리, 놀거리, 먹거리의 3박자가 잘 어우러진 축제가 될 것으로 기대된다.
특히 올해에는 우리나라 전통 수렵이자 유네스코 세계 무형유산으로 등재된 매사냥 시연이 열릴 예정이다.
이상근 군수는 “올겨울 고성 독수리 생태 축제를 통해서 생태교육은 물론 가족과 함께 다양한 체험을 즐기며 뜻깊은 추억을 많이 만들어 가길 바란다”고 전했다.
한편, 고성군은 독수리를 주제로 한 생태체험 프로그램을 내년 3월까지 매주 화, 목, 토, 일 운영할 계획이라고 전했다.
