2023년, 계묘년(癸卯年) 새해가 밝았습니다. 지혜를 상징하는 검은 토끼처럼, 올 한해는 바라는 모든 일을 성취하는 한 해가 되기를 기원합니다.
지난 한 해, 당진시는 현장의 목소리를 듣고 그에 응답하는 정책을 펴고자 노력했습니다.
민선 8기 출범과 함께 실시한 조직개편을 통해 업무의 전문성과 효율을 높여 복합민원처리기간을 단축하고 민원인 동행 서비스를 시행해 시민이 중심이 되는 소통행정에 한 발짝 더 다가섰습니다.
또한 침체된 경제회복을 목표로 과도한 행정규제를 완화하고, 국내외 전반적인 경기침체에도 불구하고 현대엔지니어링 등 대기업으로부터의 투자 및 기업 유치 1조 7천여억 원을 달성했습니다.
아울러 충청남도 최초로 수도도시로 지정되는 데 이어 전국 최초로 수소·암모니아 부두 건설을 추진하며 당진시의 새로운 먹거리인 수소 분야를 선도해 나가고 있습니다.
인력난과 인건비 상승을 해결하기 위해 몽골 4개 지방정부와 외국인 계절 근로자 교류 협약을 체결해 안정적인 근로자 지원 체계를 확보해 당진의‘풍요로운 농어촌’의 기틀을 놓았습니다.
충청남도 장애인 체육대회를 유치해 성공적으로 개최함은 물론 종합우승이라는 성적을 거두며 체육 강시의 위상을 강화하고 문화공감터, 면천읍성 등의 지역문화 또한 풍성하게 만들었습니다.
더하여 소아·아동 전문 의료체계를 구축하고 당진 최대 친수 여가공간 및 생태학습공간으로 활용될 오봉지 생태공원 조성사업도 순조로히 추진돼 시민들이 체감할 수 있는 정주여건 개선을 위해 최선을 다하고 있습니다.
이러한 시민 행복과 지역 발전을 위한 노력이 모여 우리 당진시는 5년간 이어지던 인구감소에서 벗어나 약 1,100명의 인구 증가를 이뤄낼 수 있었습니다.
2022년이 민선 8기 당진시정의 힘찬 출발을 위한 씨앗을 뿌리는 시기였다면, 2023년은 뿌린 씨앗의 싹을 틔우고 가꾸어 가는 중요한 시간이 될 것입니다.
