한국자유총연맹(총재 강석호, 이하 연맹)은 17일자 보도자료에서 “1월 17일 오후 2시, 서울 중구 남산에 위치한 한국자유총연맹 자유센터 내 글래스홀에서 제21대 강석호 총재의 취임식을 개최했다”고 전하고 “이날 취임식에는 강승규 시민사회수석, 장제원 국회의원, 김학용 국회의원, 이채익 국회의원, 이만희 국회의원, 이인선 국회의원, 박민식 국가보훈처장, 한창섭 행정안전부 차관, 김무성 전 새누리당 대표, 김일윤 헌정회 회장을 비롯해, 권정달 전임 총재, 박창달 전임 총재, 김경재 전임 총재 등 연맹 전·현직 임원 및 회원 등 1,000여 명의 축하 인사들이 참석했다”고 밝혔다.

강석호 총재 약력
신임 강석호 총재는 포항 출신으로 중동고와 한국외대를 졸업했다. 포항시의원, 경북도의원 등을 거쳐 2008년 18대 총선 때 국회에 등원한 후 19·20대 국회의원 등 3선 의원을 지냈다. 최고위원, 정보위원장, 외교통일위원장을 역임했다. 지난 2022년부터는 마포포럼 대표를 맡아 보수 정권 재창출을 위해 활동했다. 지난 대선에는 국민의힘 제20대 대통령중앙선거대책위 국민통합위원장을 맡아 윤석열 대통령의 당선을 위해 노력했다.
