함안군, 6.25전쟁 참전유공자 故 최균섭 무공훈장 전수

[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 함안군이 17일 6.25전쟁 참전유공자 故 최균섭의 무성화랑 무공훈장 전수식을 가졌다.

6.25 무공훈장 찾아주기 사업은 ‘육군 6.25 무공훈장 찾아주기 조사단’에서 6.25전쟁 무공훈장 수여 등에 관한 법률에 근거해 6.25 전쟁당시 전공으로 훈장수여가 결정됐지만 긴박한 전쟁 상황으로 인해 실물 훈장과 증서를 받지 못한 공로자를 찾아 무공훈장을 수여하는 사업이다.

함안군에서는 지난해 11월 7일부터 11일까지 육군본부 6.25 무공훈장 찾아주기 조사단이 직접 읍·면을 돌며 200여 명의 대상자를 발굴했으며, 그 중 첫 번째로 故 최균섭의 훈장이 발행된 것이다.

고인은 칠서면 출신으로, 1953년 6월 25일 전쟁당시 육군 제1801정비보급단에서 활약한 공로를 인정받아 지난 해 11월 28일 국방부 서훈기록에 의해 ‘무성화랑 무공훈장’의 훈장증이 발행됐다.

이 날 전수식에는 현재 칠서면에 거주하는 배우자 김월선 씨를 비롯한 다섯 명의 자녀가 모두 참석한 가운데, 조근제 함안군수가 국방부장관을 대신해 훈장증과 메달을 고인의 배우자에게 대신 전달했다.

차남 최광련 씨는 유가족을 대표해서 “70여년 만에 6.25전쟁에 참여한 아버지의 공적이 인정되어 대단히 기쁘다”며 “국가를 위해 헌신한 분들의 공로를 잊지 않고 찾아준 모든 분들께 감사드린다”고 전했다.
