[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 의령군이 산림청 주관 전국 선도산림경영단지 평가에서 전국 18개 선도산림경영단지 중 최우수단지로 선정돼 지난해에 이어 2년 연속 선정됐다.
의령군 응봉산 선도산림경영단지 조성사업은 지난 2019년 산림청 공모사업에 선정되어 2019년부터 2028년까지 10년간 국비·지방비를 포함한 75억을 투자하는 사업이다.
응봉산 선도산림경영단지는 의령군과 의령군산림조합, 270여명의 산주가 단합된 마음으로 843ha에 달하는 산림을 모범적으로 경영하고 있다는 평가를 받고 있다.
작년부터 올해까지 전북도청, 장수군, 울주군 등 지방자치단체 및 산림조합 관계자와 산주들을 포함해 400여명이 견학차 방문했다.
지난 7일에는 경남도와 공동으로 오태완 의령군수, 신대호 경남도 서부지역본부장, 장원영 의령군산림조합장, 산주 등이 참여한 가운데 2023년 봄철 첫 나무 심기 행사를 응봉산 선도산림경영단지에서 개최했다.
군은 사업실행의 적정성 계획수립의 전문성 기존 임도 내 산림경영작업장 설치로 경영효율성 제고 단지 여건에 맞는 맞춤형 숲 리모델링을 통한 집약경영 기반 마련 등의 운영 성과에서 높은 점수를 받았다.
특히 올해는 국내 최초 0.8km 산지 하트형 임도 개설을 목표로 사업을 추진할 예정이다.
군 관계자는 “앞으로 남은 기간 선도산림경영단지 기반을 잘 조성해 군의 최대 자원인 산림을 이용한 소득증대와 일자리 창출뿐만 아니라 주변 관광자원과 연계해 경쟁력을 키워나가는데 역량을 집중할 것”이라고 말했다.
