[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 경남 '복지 1등'의 주역인 의령군 사회복지사가 한자리에 모였다.
30일 의병박물관 앞마당에서 제17회 사회복지사의 날 기념식이 열렸다.
지난 12월 '2022년 경상남도 사회조사'에서 18개 시군 중 의령군이 6개 복지 분야 만족도 조사에서 1위를 휩쓸면서 이날 사회복지사의 만남은 어느 때보다 화기애애했다.
정부는 사회복지사의 자긍심을 고취하고 격려하기 위해 매년 3월 30일을 ‘사회복지사의 날’로 정해 기념하고 있다.
이날 기념식에는 오태완 의령군수, 전병석 의령군사회복지사협회장과 의령군 사회복지 공무원, 관내 사회복지사 등 150여명이 참석했다.
의령군이 '사회복지사의 날'을 맞아 기념식을 개최한 것은 올해가 처음이다.
최초의 행사 개최라는 의미에 걸맞게 군은 사회복지사의 역할에 상응하는 예우로 '고마움'을 나타내고 있다.
군은 사회복지사의 처우 개선을 위한 '사기 진작'에도 나서고 있다.
의령군은 지난해부터 사회복지사 자격수당과 보수교육비를 신설해 관내 180여명의 사회복지사에게 매달 3만원의 자격수당과 연 1회 보수교육비 약 5만원을 지원하고 있다.
지난해 9월 기준으로 경남에서 자격수당과 보수교육비를 동시에 지급하는 자치단체는 의령군을 포함해서 4곳이 전부다.
군 단위 지역에서 지원 금액은 의령군이 가장 높다.
의령군은 사회복지담당 공무원과 사회복지사의 공조를 통해 각종 평가에서 의령군 복지 정책은 높은 점수를 받고 있으며 '의령형 복지서비스' 역시 탄탄히 자리를 잡고 있다.
군은 거주지 중심, 신청주의 원칙 복지의 한계를 벗어나 '찾아가는 복지'를 실천하고 읍면 자체 특화사업을 통해 '맞춤형' 위기가구 발굴과 지원에 전념하고 있다.
사회복지사들은 관내 가족센터, 시니어클럽, 지역아동센터, 의령요양원 등의 현장 최일선에서 어려운 이웃과 약자를 위한 동행에 나서고 있다.
오태완 군수는 "의령군 사회복지사는 어디에 내놓아도 자랑스러운 단연 으뜸"이라며 "사회복지사들이 지켜내는 약자들을 의령군은 두텁게 지원하고 보살피는 노력을 아끼지 않을 것"이라고 밝혔다.
