[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] ‘합천춘란’이 특허청의 지리적표시 단체표장에 등록됐다.
이는 춘란 품목의 전국 최초 지리적 표시 단체표장 등록이면서 화훼분야 최초 등록이기도 하다.
합천춘란의 역사적 명성과 함께 우수성을 인정받은 것으로, 앞으로 합천춘란 명칭에 대한 독점 배타적인 권리를 확보할 수 있게 됐다.
군 관계자에 따르면 지난 2018년부터 춘란을 신소득작물로 육성해 왔으며 동시에 춘란 메카 합천의 브랜드 가치를 높이기 위해 지리적표시 단체표장 등록을 추진해 상표등록출원 2년여 만에 이번 단체표장 등록이 결정됐다고 밝혔다.
합천은 산지가 전체 면적의 73%를 차지하고 있어 난 생육에 우수한 여건을 보유하고 있으며 1990년대부터 한국춘란의 자생지로 알려지면서 재배 및 유통 생태계가 자연적으로 형성됐다.
전국 최초로 난 산업 육성을 시작했고 현재 생업으로 난실을 운영하는 곳도 90여 개소에 이르러 국내 난 산업의 메카로 평가받고 있다.
춘란산업과 관련한 합천의 이러한 노력과 특성, 역사성, 우수성 등을 인정해 특허청은 ‘합천춘란’ 단체표장을 결정지었다.
김윤철 군수는 “이번 단체표장 등록으로 합천춘란의 브랜드 가치가 상승했을 뿐 아니라 시장경쟁력을 확보하게 됐다”면서 “합천춘란의 화훼시장 진출을 위해 더욱 박차를 가하겠다”는 각오를 밝혔다.
한편 지리적 표시 단체표장 제도는 지역특산물 명칭을 보호하기 위해 도입된 제도로 특허청 관할이다.
현재 합천군은 해당 상품의 품질을 인증하는 것을 주된 내용으로 하는 국립농산물품질관리원의 지리적표시 등록도 추진하고 있으며 수일내 농촌진흥청에 한국춘란 재배온실 시설규격 등록도 앞두고 있다.
