[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] ‘2023 전국 의병마라톤대회’가 오는 30일 ‘의병의 성지’ 의령에서 개최된다.
지난 16일 대회 참가자들의 신청·접수를 마감한 결과 전국에서 3,000여명이 신청했다.
전국 의병마라톤대회는 전국 최초로 의병을 일으켜 나라를 지켜낸 선조들의 숭고한 의병정신을 기리고자 시작된 마라톤으로 올해는 특별히 ‘부자기운 따라 달리는, 명품100리길’ 이란 부제로 의령군이 조성 중인 명품 100리 길을 코스로 대회가 열린다.
참가 종목은 풀코스, 하프, 10㎞, 5㎞ 등 4개 종목이다.
대회 당일 행사는 오전 8시 40분 식전행사를 시작으로 9시 개회식·준비운동, 9시 30분 풀코스 출발, 9시 40분 하프 출발, 9시 50분 10㎞ 출발, 10시 5㎞ 출발 순으로 진행된다.
다만 올해 마라톤은 풀코스 일부 구간에 변화가 있다.
당초 마라톤 코스는 의령공설운동장을 출발해 백야마을, 의병전적지, 한국환경자원공사, 친환경골프장, 대산리뚝방, 화양제, 장박교 밑, 의령메추리농장, 상정제를 지나 화정우체국, 명주마을을 풀 반환점으로 하는 코스였으나, 상정제에서 화정우체국이 아닌, 상정천 뚝방길을 따라 명주교, 덕교분교를 풀 반환점으로 하는 코스로 풀코스 구간 일부를 변경했다.
대회 관계자는 “변경된 구간은 면소재지를 통과 하지않고 덕교분교까지 이어진 상정천 뚝방길을 따라 달리는 코스로 차량이 통행하지 않아 오히려 교통통제 등 안전관리 부분에 있어서 대회진행이 더욱더 원활할 것으로 예상된다”며 참가자들의 이해를 당부했다.
오태완 군수는 “의령군 화정면 남강변에서 지정면까지 의령 명품 100리길이 조성돼 있다 부자기운을 느끼며 명품 100리 꽃길을 맘껏 달리길 바란다”며 “환상적인 의령 명품 100리길을 달리는 이번 의병마라톤대회는 대한민국에서 가장 아름다운 마라톤 코스로 각광을 받을 것”이라고 말했다.
한편 의령군은 오는 20일부터 23일까지 제48회 의령홍의장군축제를 개최한다.
특히 올해부터는 반세기 가까이 열렸던 의병제전이 축제명을 '의령홍의장군축제'로 바꿔 개최하는 첫 축제로 관심이 집중되고 있다.
