[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 함양군의 특산물인 ‘함양 산양삼’이 20일 ‘2023 대한민국 명가명품대상’ 지역명품브랜드 부문에서 5년 연속 대상을 수상했다.

대한민국 명가명품대상은 대한민국 명가명품 대상위원회에서 주최하고 한국소비자협회가 주관하는 행사로 한국을 대표하고 시장을 선도하며 명가명품으로 명성을 쌓은 제품에 대해 전문가와 소비자 브랜드 인지도 조사 등을 통해 선정된다.

함양군은 지난 2003년부터 지리산과 덕유산 등 천혜의 자연환경을 바탕으로 명품 산양삼을 육성해 현재 500여 농가에서 약 730ha를 재배하고 있는 전국 최대 규모의 산양삼 산지이다.

특히 500m 고지 이상 재배 제한을 두고 생산이력제와 지리적 표시제 등 철저한 생산 관리와 산양삼 지킴이 활동 등을 통한 고품질 산양삼 생산을 위한 기반 구축과 산양삼 산업특구 사업 등을 펼치며 우리나라 산양삼 산업을 선도하고 있다.

군 관계자는 “다년간의 노하우로 우리 군의 산양삼 재배 기술력과 브랜드 인지도 부문에서 소비자들에게 높이 평가를 받고 있다”며 “앞으로도 함양산양삼이 우리나라를 넘어 전 세계를 대표하는 명가명품이 되고 산양삼 산업화를 통해 고소득 작물로 자리매김 할 수 있도록 더욱 매진하겠다”고 밝혔다.
