[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 밀양시는 16개 전 읍면동 주민자치회 전환에 따라 21일 ‘밀양시 주민자치회 출범 기념식’을 시청 대강당에서 개최했다.
이번 기념식은 지난 1월부터 관내 전 읍면동이 주민자치회로 전환·운영됨에 따라 이를 대내·외적으로 홍보하고 주민자치회의 위상 제고와 지역 자치역량 강화를 위해 추진됐으며 내빈 및 주민자치 위원 등 300여명이 참석한 가운데 개최됐다.
기념식은 주민자치 경과보고와 활동영상 상영, 위원 선언문 낭독, 축사, 주민자치회장 소개 순으로 진행됐으며 올해를 기점으로 밀양시 주민자치의 새로운 도약을 다짐하고 비전을 선포하는 자리가 됐다.
박일호 시장은 “밀양시 전 읍면동 주민자치회 출범은 주민참여 속에 진정한 민주주의를 실현하기 위한 첫 걸음이다”고 말하며 “각 지역 주민자치회가 시민의 이야기에 더욱 귀 기울이고 시민과 함께 지역 발전을 이끌어가는 민·관 협치의 중심이 돼주길 바란다”고 말했다.
이수구 밀양시주민자치위원연합회장은 “관심과 참여 속에 진정한 주민자치가 시작된다”며 “주민자치회가 앞장서서 주민의 참여를 이끌어 내고 밀양시에 새로운 주민자치 시대를 열어가겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
