[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 제20회 의령 토요애 수박축제가 20일부터 23일까지 나흘간 의령읍 서동생활공원 수박축제장에서 열린다.
이번 축제는 의령토요애수박축제위원회가 주최하고 의령군과 의령군의회, 유관기관단체 및 농협중앙회의령군지부·의령농협·동부농협이 후원한다.
홍의장군 축제장을 찾은 군민들과 관광객을 비롯해 2천여명이 참여하는 이번 수박축제는 전국 최고 수준의 당도와 문양 수박 특허를 자랑하는 토요애 수박의 브랜드화를 통한 품질 고급화와 차별화된 우수성을 알리기 위해 매년 개최해 오고 있다.
최고 큰 수박과 가장 달콤한 수박을 선정하는 ‘챔피언 수박대회’에서는 큰수박 대상에는 용덕면 양재명 씨가 출품한 29kg짜리가 수박이 선정됐으며 왕수박에는 지정면 윤향순씨가 출품한 수박이 13Brix로 수상의 영예를 안았다.
이 밖에도 무료시식행사 및 전시·체험 행사를 비롯해 농·특산물 직거래 장터도 열린다.
