[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] “산청군민의 염원인 지리산케이블카를 설치해 지리산권 관광 활성화 기반을 마련하고 지역경제 활성화에 기여하겠다”
이승화 산청군수는 24일 군청 대회의실에서 열린 업무협의회에서 이같이 밝히며 지리산케이블카 설치사업 추진을 공식화했다.
이에 따라 산청군은 이날 지리산케이블카 담당 TF를 출범하고 본격적인 추진에 돌입했다.
산청군은 과거 사업추진 경험을 바탕으로 국립공원계획변경안을 조속히 마련해 경남도와 함께 환경부에 국립공원계획 변경을 신청한다는 방침이다.
또 경남도와 긴밀한 협조체제를 구축해 영·호남 각 1개소 설치를 위한 대정부 공동건의 방안을 마련하는 등 분위기를 조성해 나갈 계획이라고 전했다.
앞서 박완수 경남도지사는 간부회의 등을 통해 지리산케이블카 설치의 필요성을 수차례 강조해 왔다.
경남도 행정기구 설치 조례 등을 개정해 오는 7월께 지리산케이블카 설치에 관한 사무를 신설하고 TF 구성을 추진하고 있다.
이에 산청군은 지리산케이블카 설치사업을 추진한 선두주자로 설치에 총력을 기울인다는 방침이다.
산청군은 지리산 정상인 천왕봉이 산청군에 위치하고 있고 정상까지 최단거리 노선을 보유하고 있다.
지난 2011년과 2016년 수차례 국립공원계획 변경을 신청한 경험도 가지고 있다.
특히 산청군은 사업 준비 과정에서 자연공원법 개정을 위해 환경부에 지속적으로 건의, 국립공원 삭도설치 요건을 완화했다.
