[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 제61회 거제옥포대첩축제가 올해 두배 가까이 늘어난 예산으로 풍성한 볼거리를 제공해 귀추가 주목된다.
거제시는 6월10일부터 18일까지 40여 개의 단위행사가 하늘·바다·육지에서 시민들을 만나는 제61회 거제옥포대첩축제를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
지난해 하루사이로 각각 따로 개최됐던 기념식과 개막공연이 올해는 옥포수변공원에서 한번에 열린다.
6월16일 오후 7시30분, 개막식과 '출정' 승리의 북을 울려라 공연, 개막불꽃을 시작으로 제61회 거제옥포대첩축제의 화려한 막이 오른다.
올해는 특히 청소년들이 문화를 즐길 수 있는 자리를 마련하기 위해 공을 들였다.
거제 청소년들이 끼와 재능을 발산할 ‘청소년 뮤직 앤 댄스 콘테스트’와 ‘청소년과 함께하는 K팝 랜덤댄스’가 옥포수변공원 주무대에서 새롭게 선보인다.
더위를 피해 공연을 즐길 수 있도록 오션플라자 수변데크 야외무대에 △마임·기타·버블아트 등 프린지 공연 △도전! 옥포대첩 골든벨 행사를 준비했다.
백일장·사생대회·휘호대회는 사전행사로 한주 앞당겨 진행해 대회참가자들도 축제에 참여할 수 있게 됐다.
또한 이번 축제를 기념해 뮤지컬 이순신의 바다 공연이 거제문화예술회관 대극장에서 무료로 개최된다.
이순신 장군의 생애와 업적을 다룬 작품으로 명량대첩 이후의 삶과 노량해전까지의 비화를 그렸다.
이번 축제에는 해군 군악대·의장대를 선두로 300여명의 승전행차 가장행렬이 진행되며 올해 처음으로 관내 9개 고등학교 이순신 역사 동아리 학생들이 참여해 더욱 뜻깊다.

17일 16시30분 진목초교를 출발해 국산사거리, 옥포국제시장을 거쳐 옥포공영주차장에서 25분간 승전축하 퍼포먼스를 펼친 후 세일마트, 옥포교회를 지나 옥포수변공원에 도착할 예정이다.
축제 마지막 날인 18일 11시에는 옥포수변공원 상공에서 올해 처음으로 대한민국 공군 최고의 정예부대 블랙이글스 에어쇼가 펼쳐진다.
이어 해상에서는 뮤지컬 옥포해전 '전설의 탄생'과 불꽃전투재현이 축제의 마지막을 뜨겁게 장식한다.
그밖에 주무대인 옥포수변공원 인근으로 옥포1동 주민센터 앞·뒷길과 오션플라자 옆 수변데크에서 △이순신 장군의 의상체험, 임진왜란 무기체험, 거북선·판옥선 체험을 할 수 있는 ‘이순신 승전체험거리’ △지역예술작가들의 작품들을 전시하는 ‘옥포대첩 예술의 거리’ △‘옥포저잣거리’(플리마켓)를 운영한다.
지난해 시민들의 호응이 높았던 이순신을 찾아라-역사탐방, 왜군을 물리쳐라-물총놀이 행사는 참가인원을 늘려 보다 많은 시민들이 참여할 수 있도록 했다.
축제기간 시민들의 주차 편의를 위해 한화 오션플라자 옥외주차장을 임시주차장으로 운영하고 옥포국제시장 공영주차장도 무료로 개방한다.
행사장까지 셔틀버스 5대를 편성해 16시부터 22시까지 30분 간격으로 운행한다.
