브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 김미주 더불어민주당 서울시당 대변인은 4일 "제 아무리 미국이라도 동해는 동해, 독도는 우리 땅이다"라고 밝혔다.
김미주 대변인은 이날 논평을 통해 "온 국민이 기뻐해야 할 지난 광복절, 일본 기상청이 독도를 일본 땅으로 표기했다. 같은 날 미 국방부가 앞으로 동해상 훈련 시 일본해 명칭을 고수한다는 단독보도가 나왔다. 미국에 항의조차 못하는 정부의 모습에 국민적 분통이 터졌다"며 이같이 말했다.
그는 "얼마 전 강동구의회에서는 미국을 비판하는 ‘미국 국방부의 ‘동해’에 대한 ‘일본해’ 표기 행위 규탄 결의안‘이 채택됐다. 그런데 결의안에는 강동구 국민의힘 의원들의 서명이 없었다"면서 "이재명 더불어민주당 대표가 이 문제에 대해 발언했고, 동해의 일본해 표기에 대해 민주당이 당론으로 비판한다는 이유라는 보도도 나왔다"고 설명했다.
이어 "당론은 아니지만 중앙의 눈치를 볼 수밖에 없었다는 강동구 국민의힘 의원들은 중앙 눈치 살피느라 강동구민 눈치는 안 보는 것인가"라며 "아버지를 아버지라 부르지 못한 홍길동은 소설 속 인물이라지만 구의원은 주민 대표로 뽑힌 선출직들"이라고 지적했다.
김미주 대변인은 또한 "동해를 동해로 부르는 일을 주저하게 만드는 것이 과연 무엇인가"라며 "항일 독립운동의 역사를 지우고 민생보다 이념을 선택한 윤석열 정부의 기조에 맞춰 기초의원들마저 양심을 저버리고 알아서 눈치보는 것인지 참으로 답답한 노릇"이라고 비판했다.
