[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 함안군은 오는 8일 오전 10시부터 11시 30분까지 ‘함안 말이산고분군 도항리 425번지 일원 발굴조사’ 현장공개회를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
군은 2022년 문화재청 국가지정문화재 보수정비사업의 일환으로 말이산고분군 북쪽 진입로 정비 사업을 계획했으며 경남연구원 역사문화센터에 사업부지에 대한 시굴조사를 의뢰해 삼한시대 널무덤, 삼국시대 덧널무덤, 돌덧널무덤, 돌방무덤 등 다수의 유구를 확인한 바 있다.
이후, 2023년 해당부지에 대해 발굴조사로 전환해 올해 5월부터 조사를 실시했으며 조사결과 삼한시대 널무덤 8기, 삼국시대 덧널무덤 10기, 돌덧널무덤 2기, 돌방무덤 1기 등이 확인되는 성과가 있었다.
널무덤에서는 주머니호, 조합우각형파수부호 등 토기류와 함께 철창, 철화살촉, 철도끼, 철검, 철낫 등 다양한 철기류가 출토됐다.
특히 3호 널무덤에서는 다량의 유리구슬을 엮어 만든 장신구가 확인돼 당시 의복형태를 연구할 수 있는 중요한 자료가 확보됐다.
덧널무덤은 소형~대형 등 다양한 규모가 확인됐으며 이 중 도굴되지 않은 대형덧널무덤인 7호 덧널무덤에서는 말이산 고분군 내 덧널무덤 단계에서는 처음으로 순장으로 의심되는 흔적이 확인된다고 조사단은 밝혔다.
조사단은 순장으로 추정하는 이유로 순장자의 위치가 돌덧널무덤 단계와 유사한 양상으로 한쪽 좁은벽에 마련되어 있는 점 굽다리접시가 1~2점 소량만 부장되어 있는 점 주인공 안치공간과는 달리 흐트러진 받침돌의 양상이 확인되는 점이 주목된다고 밝혔다.
돌방무덤에서는 백제 사비기의 은제 허리띠장식이 출토되어 주목된다.
가야 멸망 이후 7세기대 남해 남치리고분에서 출토된 예는 있으나 백제 사비기에 해당하는 허리띠장식이 가야 중심지에서 확인된 것은 이번이 처음으로 6세기 중반 백제와 아라가야의 관계 연구에 좋은 자료를 확보 했다.
군 관계자는 “발굴조사 성과를 반영한 말이산고분군 진입로 정비 설계 및 공사를 실시해 세계유산에 걸맞는 고분군 경관을 조성 할 수 있도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
