군은 시가지 도로변 은행 열매 채취 작업의 효율을 높이기 위해 단시간에 효과적으로 처리할 수 있는 진동수확기를 올해부터 시범적으로 운영하고 있다.

진동수확기는 나무에 진동을 일으켜 은행 열매를 떨어뜨리는 방식으로 기존에 장대를 이용하는 방식보다 훨씬 신속하고 효율적이다.

은행나무는 화재와 병충해에 강해 가로수로 많이 사용되고 있지만, 열매의 악취가 심해 가을철 많은 민원이 발생하고 있다.

거창읍 시가지의 은행나무는 현재 거열로 등 11개 노선에 1,377주이며 그중 293주는 열매가 열리는 암나무다.
