[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 산림청이 선정한 ‘대한민국 100대 명품숲’에 의령군 '응봉산 황금부자숲'이 선정됐다.
산림청은 황폐했던 우리나라 산야에 본격적으로 나무를 심기 시작한 1973년 이후 50주년이 되는 해를 맞아 ‘대한민국 100대 명품숲’을 선정했다.
산림청은 실태조사로 발굴한 914개소 대상지 가운데 현장 심사를 통과한 134개소 중에서 생태적·역사·문화적·경관적 가치가 높은 숲을 1차 선정했다.
이어 진행된 온라인 국민 투표 결과를 최종 심사에 반영해 최종 100개의 명품숲을 선정했다.
응봉산 일대는 선도 산림경영단지로 선정되어 명품 소나무 숲가꾸기,편백 경제림 조성, 밤나무 특화림 조성, 두릅 특용수림 조성, 청미래 조성 등 총 225ha 면적에서 산림경영이 이루어지고 있다.
‘응봉산 황금 부자숲’은 명품 소나무 숲가꾸기 사업지 75ha를 대상으로 산림의 생산·치유·체험 등의 다양한 가치를 구현할 수 있도록 만들었다.
특히 임업 산업화를 위해 임산물 소득원 향상과 재배 기술 증진을 위해 산림 텃밭을 주민에게 분양했다.
또 황금회화나무, 황금사철나무 등을 심어서 경관적으로 아름다움을 더했다.
한편 황금 부자숲은 임도 입구에서 산 정상부 산림광장까지 차량 진입이 가능하다.
산림광장, 하트임도, 밤나무 산책로는 누구에게나 열려있는 힐링 장소다.
오태완 군수는 “명품 숲을 잘 가꿔 군민과 관광객들에게 휴식과 재충전의 공간을 제공하고 숲 브랜드화, 산림 관광자원 육성으로 대한민국 대표 명품숲의 자랑거리를 더욱 늘려가겠다”고 말했다.
