[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 경남 고성군은 남부내륙철도 연계 지역 발전 전략 및 역세권 개발사업의 기본계획 수립을 완료했다고 21일 발표했다.
해당 기본계획은 경남도와 5개 시군이 2022년 3월 공동 발주해 전문 용역사와 함께 치밀한 계획수립, 실무협의회, 설문조사, 벤치마킹 및 전문가 자문회의 등 협업과 절차를 거쳐 21일 고성군이 역동적인 미래로 나아가는 데 중요한 이정표가 될 완료보고회로 마무리됐다.
기본계획에 따르면 고성군 역세권은 단계별로 개발될 예정이며 1단계는 복합환승센터, 공공시설, 주차장, 역사 광장, 녹지 공간 및 도로 건설 등 공공 개발사업으로 2단계는 상업, 숙박, 스포츠 및 주거 시설 등 민간 투자 사업으로 추진될 예정이다.
지역여건 진단 결과로 도출된 농산어촌 중심의 공간구조, 인구감소 및 지역소멸 위기, 고성읍 도심기능 부족, 지역특화 전략품목 부족이라는 문제는 새로운 거점 형성을 위한 앵커시설 유치, 광역 연계 교통체계 구축, 군민 생활여건 및 정주환경 개선이라는 발전방향 설정으로 해결할 예정이다.
성공적인 역세권개발을 위해 선결되어야 할 주요 현안으로는 농업진흥지역 해제, 역세권 내 송전탑 이전 지중화, 진출입 교차로 추가 등이 있다.
특히 전체 개발면적의 85.3%에 달하는 농업진흥지역의 해제는 고성역세권 개발사업의 성패를 좌우하는 결정적 요인이라고 전했다.
