[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김영삼 전 대통령 서거 8주기 추모식이 22일 고향인 거제시 장목면 대계마을에서 열렸다.

김 전 대통령기록전시관 앞 광장에서 개최된 이날 추모식에는 서일준 국회의원, 박종우 거제시장, 윤부원 거제시의회 의장, 출향인사, 도·시의원, 시민 등 200여명이 참석했다.

박종우 시장은 추모사에서 “김영삼 대통령님의 치열한 투쟁 덕분에 오늘날 우리는 건강한 민주주의를 누리며 살고 있다”며 “우리는 역사의 고비마다 과감한 결단력과 혜안으로 위기를 이겨내셨던 김영삼 대통령님을 오랫동안 그리워할 것이다”며 추모의 말을 전했다.

추모사에 이어 거제시소년소녀합창단은 고인을 그리워하며 ‘고향의 봄’과 ‘고마워 내 친구야’를 불렀으며 거제문화원 윤일광 원장이 지은 추모시‘그대였다’를 거제시문인협회 고혜량씨가 낭송하며 고인을 함께 추억했다.

유족 인사말씀은 김 전 대통령의 둘째 아들인 현철씨가 추모식을 찾아주신 분들에게 감사의 인사를 영상으로 전했다.

이어지는 추모공연에서는 성악가 김새별씨와 거제윈드브라스밴드의 ‘홀로아리랑’과 ‘아름다운 나라’가 행사장에 울려 퍼지면서 다시 한번 고인을 그리워하는 시간을 가졌다.
