이날 회의에는 모든 원전 발전소장이 참석한 가운데 원전 현황과 겨울철 대비 준비사항을 꼼꼼히 점검하며, 원전을 안전하게 운영하고, 계획예방정비 중인 원전은 제때 가동할 수 있도록 전사적인 총력을 기울이기로 했다.
앞서 한수원의 원전 운영을 총괄하는 이상민 기술부사장은 지난 11월 20일 전남 영광군 한빛원자력본부에 이어, 11월 28일 경북 울진군 한울원자력본부에서 현장경영을 시행해 계획예방정비 중인 한빛2호기와 한울1호기의 진행현황과 정비 현안을 직접 살폈다.
한수원 경영진은 모든 원전본부 현장경영을 통해 폭설, 한파 등 겨울철 자연재해와 각종 재난에 대비한 준비현황을 점검하고 안정적 전력공급을 강조할 계획이다.
한편 올해 겨울철 기온은 평년보다 높을 것으로 전망되지만, 기온 변화가 심할 것으로 예측됨에 따라 전력수요는 지난해보다 증가할 것으로 보인다.
특히 산업통상자원부는 12월 4일부터 내년 2월 29일까지 약 3개월간을 ‘겨울철 전력수급 대책기간’으로 정하고, 전력수급 현황을 집중 관리한다는 방침이다. 이 기간 한수원은 최소 18기에서 최대 22기의 원전을 가동할 예정이다.
