[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창군은 2024년 정부예산에 남부권 보훈휴양원 건립 사업이 반영됐다고 26일 밝혔다.
거창군에 따르면 지난 8월 29일 구인모 군수가 국가보훈부 박민식 장관을 만나 거창 남부권 보훈휴양원 건립을 건의했으며 이후 보훈부 관계자 현장 방문, 군 주관 타당성조사 용역, 국회 방문 등 각고의 노력 끝에 2024년도 정부예산에 남부권 보훈휴양원 건립 타당성 조사 연구용역비 1억원이 반영됐다.
총사업비 규모는 380여억원이다. 이번 용역예산 반영으로 군은 남부권 보훈휴양원을 건립할 수 있는 단초를 마련했으며 보훈휴양원이 건립되면 보훈가족 복지서비스의 혁신을 가져올 뿐만 아니라 관광객 증가에 따른 생활인구 증가로 지역경제 활성화와 지방소멸에 대응할 수 있는 계기가 될 것으로 보인다.
군은 내년 1월부터 발 빠르게 국가보훈부를 방문해 연구용역이 조속히 추진될 수 있도록 긴밀한 협조체계를 구축하고 아울러 거창군에 보훈휴양원이 건립될 수 있도록 적극적으로 협조해 나갈 계획이다.
