브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 진선미 더불어민주당 의원은 25일 "GTX-D 노선 사업의 강동구 경유 계획이 확정됐다"면서 "강동구가 수도권 교통 요충지로서 위상이 더욱 높아질 것"이라고 환영의 뜻을 내비쳤다.
정부가 이날 발표한 ‘교통 분야 3대 혁신 전략’에 따르면 GTX-D 노선의 강동구 경유 확정 계획이 포함됐다.
GTX-D 노선 사업은 제5차 국가 철도망 계획에 전체 노선을 반영해 구간별(1~2단계) 개통을 추진하게 된다. 신속한 추진을 위해 예비타당성조사 신청과 함께 민간 제안 절차도 병행할 것으로 알려졌다.
GTX-D 강동 경유는 진선미 의원의 핵심 공약이기도 했다. 진선미 의원은 제21대 국회 전반기 국토교통위원장을 역임하며 강동주민과 약속한 GTX-D 노선 강동 경유를 위해 노력해왔다.
진 의원은 2020년부터 신설 필요성을 검토하는 정책토론회를 여러 차례 개최했고, GTX-D 강동구 유치위원회와 함께 GTX-D 노선 강동유치를 위한 서명운동을 전개해 얻은 결실인 강동주민 10만 서명부를 국토교통부 장관에게 공식 전달 한 바 있다.
이어 강동구의 GTX-D 노선 강동 경유를 위한 타당성 연구용역을 추진하는 한편, 지난해 11월 정부에 GTX-D 강동 경유 노선 확정을 재차 촉구했다.

진선미 의원은 이 과정에서 강동구가 서울의 관문도시로써 수도권 동부권역과 서부권역을 연결하는 강동 노선의 역할이 매우 중요하다는 점을 적극 피력해왔다. GTX-D 강동구 경유 노선은 남양주, 구리, 하남 등 수도권 외곽지역에서 경의·중앙선 등을 통해 유입되는 교통수요를 분담하고 있는 철도망과 연계하도록 해 서울 동남권과 동부권의 교통수요를 반영하는 것이 GTX-D 노선 사업 타당성 확보에 유리하다는 취지였다.
여기에 더해 대규모 택지 개발과 산업단지 조성에 따른 강동구의 인구 증가 및 교통 수요 증가에 대응하는 광역교통수단 공급이 반드시 필요함을 제안해 GTX-D 노선의 강동 경유 계획 확정을 이끌어냈다.
진선미 의원은 이와 관련 "강동구의 새로운 교통 혁신을 위해 강동주민의 뜻을 하나로 모아 GTX-D 강동 경유 계획을 확정시켜 낼 수 있었다"면서 "앞으로 예비타당성조사 절차를 신속하게 추진하면서 GTX-D 강동구 내 설치 역사의 위치와 역 명칭 등 주민 모두가 인정할 수 있는 기본계획이 수립되도록 계속 준비해 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.
한편, 강동구 내 GTX-D 설치 역사는 아직 결정되지 않았다. 일각에선 고덕역 또는 천호역이 될 것이라는 이야기가 나오고 있다.
