[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창군은 지난달 31일 개최된 전국평생학습도시협의회 정기총회에서 단체장 공로상과 2024년 대한민국 평생학습도시 좋은 정책상을 수상했다.

2022년부터 현재까지 평생학습도시 경남대표를 맡아 선도적인 역할을 해 온 구인모 거창 군수에게 공로상을 수여했다.

대한민국 평생학습도시 좋은정책상은 타 기관에 귀감이 되는 우수 평생교육 정책을 추진한 기관에 수여하는 상으로 거창군은 평생학습도시 성장에서 성숙이라는 타이틀로 ‘평생학습도시 20주년 아카이빙 그리고 비전 제시’라는 내용으로 수상하게 됐다.

구인모 군수는 “이번 수상은 평생학습 수강생들과 강사님들의 적극적인 참여와 열정으로 일궈낸 성과로 그동안 함께 참여하신 군민 여러분께 감사드리며 평생학습도시 20년간의 성과를 바탕으로 앞으로 뭐든지 가능한 더 큰 학교 거창을 위해 최선을 다함은 물론 지방시대를 구현하고 지역교육 경쟁력 향상을 위해 교육발전특구 유치에 총력을 가하고 있다”고 말했다.

거창군은 2003년 경남에서 최초로 학습도시로 선정되어 그간에 연간 500여개의 다양한 평생교육프로그램과 학습동아리로 평생학습문화를 확산해 왔으며 2016년도에는 국내 최초 군단위 박람회 개최, 국제교육도시연합회 활동 및 스탠퍼드 대학 협약 글로벌 캠프 운영, 인문도시사업 추진, 대학평생학습 체제개편 LIFE사업 및 직업고등교육 HIVE사업 등 평생학습 고도와 사업 추진은 물론 성인문해교육을 통해 일반계 고등학교에 45명이 입학하는 우수사례를 기록한 대한민국을 대표하는 학습도시로 자리매김하고 있다.
