금감원에 따르면 가짜 거래소 이용 사기 유형은 △투자방 참여형(코인 리딩방) △온라인 친분 이용형(로맨스 스캠) △유명 거래소 사칭형 등이다.
사기범들은 SNS, 채팅방 등에서 특정 거래사이트나 앱 설치 유도, 위조된 해외 유명거래소를 소개하며 마치 정상적인 거래소인 것처럼 착오를 유발한다.
이러한 가짜 거래소 이용 사기는 공통적으로 처음에는 소액의 가상자산 투자를 권유하여 수익을 경험토록 한 후, 투자금을 늘려 거액이 입금된 뒤에는 돌연 출금을 거절하고 자금을 편취한다.
