후원회장으로 임명된 노광일 씨는 포항제철소 내 한 업체에서 21년째 교대근무를 이어오고 있는 현장 노동자다. 그의 부친 역시 실향민으로 포항에 정착해 청소노동자로 일해온 것으로 알려졌다.

 

박 후보는 “포항을 지탱해온 힘은 산업 현장에서 일해 온 노동자와 시민의 땀”이라며 “후원회장도 현장에서 묵묵히 일해 온 노동자가 맡아 변화의 주체가 누구인지 분명히 보여주고자 한다”고 밝혔다.

 

이어 “이번 후원회는 유력 인사가 아닌 평범한 시민이 중심이 되는 구조로 구성했다”며 “특정 조직이나 이익이 아닌, 보통 시민의 참여로 선거를 치르겠다”고 강조했다. 또한 “작은 후원이 모여 포항의 미래를 바꾸는 힘이 되도록 투명하게 운영하겠다”고 덧붙였다.

 

노광일 후원회장은 “산업 현장에서 일하는 사람들의 삶이 나아지도록 힘을 보태고 싶다”며 “많은 시민의 참여가 변화의 시작이 될 수 있도록 책임 있게 운영하겠다”고 말했다.

 

박 후보 후원회는 앞으로 시민 누구나 참여할 수 있는 다양한 후원 창구를 마련하고, 법령에 따른 투명한 회계 운영과 공개를 원칙으로 활동할 계획이다.
