전남도는 지난 19일부터 20일까지 이틀간 영암 호텔현대 바이 라한에서 ‘2026년 도·시·군 자원봉사센터 관리자 역량 강화 워크숍’을 성황리에 개최했다고 밝혔다. 전남도가 주최하고 전남도자원봉사센터가 주관한 이번 워크숍에는 홍정우 행정안전부 민간협력공동체과장, 김의욱 한국중앙자원봉사센터장 등 중앙부처 관계자와 22개 시·군 자원봉사센터 관리자 및 실무자 120여 명이 참석해 뜨거운 열기를 더했다.
이번 워크숍은 지난 한 해 동안 전남 곳곳의 재난 현장에서 헌신했던 자원봉사자들의 노고를 기리고, 향후 발전 방향을 모색하는 자리로 마련됐다.
전남도 자원봉사센터는 지난 2025년 발생한 제주 항공여객기 참사 당시, 현장에 급파되어 밤낮을 가리지 않고 유가족과 피해자들의 아픔을 달랬다. 당시 투입된 자원봉사 인원만 연인원 6,700여 명에 달하며, 이는 도민의 슬픔을 회복하는 데 결정적인 역할을 했다는 평가를 받는다. 또한, 지난 7월 기록적인 집중 호우로 수많은 이재민이 발생했을 때도 연인원 4,500여 명의 봉사자가 구호 물품 지원 및 현장 복구에 사력을 다했다.
