브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 과거 성범죄자 변호 논란이 인 조수진 변호사가 자진사퇴하기로 했다.
더불어민주당은 조수진 변호사 사퇴 이후 전략공천 방침을 세웠으며 차점자인 박용진 의원이 강북을 후보를 승계하진 않을 것이라고 했다.
안규백 전략공천관리 위원장은 22일 CBS라디오 '김현정의 뉴스쇼' 인터뷰에서 "박용진 의원이 강북을 후보를 승계하진 않을 것이며 전략공천할 것"이라고 말했다.
안 위원장은 "오늘 후보 등록 마감이라 어떤 형태든 경선은 불가하다"면서 "(차점자 승계를) 고려해 볼 사항이지만 여기엔 해당하지 않는다"고 못박았다.
이어 "하위 10%, 20%에 포함되거나 경선 과정에서 탈락한 사람이 특별한 경우가 아니고는 다시 공천받은 경우는 한 번도 없었다"며 "이미 경선에서 두 번의 기회를 준 후보한테 세 번의 후보를 준 기회는 한 번도 없었다"고 강조했다.
또한 "오늘 오전에 바로 결정해서 오후에 (후보) 등록을 해야 해서 이런저런 후보들에 대해 고민하고 있다"면서 "(후보군을) 좁혀놓은 것은 아니다. (이재명) 당 대표가 여러 가지 의견을 듣고 있는 과정"이라고 설명했다. 선거 후보 등록 시한은 이날 오후 6시다.
정치권 일각에선 민주당 강북을 전략공천자로 신현영 의원과 한민수 대변인 등이 유력 후보로 거론되고 있다.
한편, 조수진 변호사는 민주당 경선에서 현역 박용진 의원을 꺾고 4·10 총선 강북을 후보로 확정됐으나, 과거 아동 성범죄자에 대한 변호 과정에서 나온 발언 및 다수의 성폭력 피의자를 변호해온 이력 등이 논란이 되자 22일 결국 후보직에서 스스로 물러났다.
