바인그룹은 지난 2월 21일 방송된 ‘동행’ 546회 ‘성민이의 내 사랑 어부바’ 편의 주인공 이성민(16) 군에게 초·중·고 대상 1:1 전문 과외 서비스인 ‘상상코칭’을 통해 수학 학습을 지원한다고 22일 밝혔다.
이번 지원은 경제적·환경적 제약으로 인해 학업에 어려움을 겪으면서도 배움의 끈을 놓지 않는 청소년을 돕기 위해 마련됐으며, 향후 약 6개월간 화상 수업 형태로 진행될 예정이다.
방송을 통해 소개된 성민 군은 몸이 불편한 어머니를 지극정성으로 돌보며 생활을 꾸려가는 효자로 알려졌다. 성민 군의 어머니는 과거 낙상사고 후유증으로 허리와 다리 통증 및 경직 증상을 겪고 있으며, 당뇨와 척추질환 등 지병까지 겹쳐 세심한 보살핌이 필요한 상태다. 성민 군은 이러한 열악한 환경 속에서도 아르바이트를 병행하며 가계를 돕는 등 든든한 보호자 역할을 수행하고 있다.

성민 군의 지도를 맡은 상상코칭 이상원 코치는 “성민 군을 직접 만나보니 이해력이 뛰어나고 학습 잠재력이 충분한 학생이라는 것을 느꼈다”며 “성민 군의 강점을 살려 흥미 위주의 수업을 진행한다면 수학 실력을 충분히 끌어올릴 수 있을 것”이라고 전했다.
성민 군 또한 “이번 기회를 통해 정말 제대로 공부해서 어머니와 함께 행복하게 살 수 있는 미래를 만들고 싶다”며 포부를 밝혔다.
한편, 바인그룹은 교육 기회 격차를 겪는 소외계층 청소년들을 위한 학습 지원 사업을 꾸준히 펼쳐오고 있다. 그룹 관계자는 “앞으로도 상상코칭 등 그룹의 교육 인프라를 활용해 맞춤형 교육 지원 사업을 지속적으로 확대하며 기업의 사회적 책임을 다할 계획”이라고 강조했다.
