【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구한의대학교(총장 변창훈)가 최근 대한심폐소생협회로부터 ‘한국전문심장소생술(KALS·Korean Advanced Life Support) Provider’ 공식 교육기관으로 지정됐다고 밝혔다. 이에 따라 대구한의대는 지역 보건의료 인재 양성을 위한 응급의료 교육 분야 핵심 거점으로 자리매김하게 됐다.

대구한의대는 이미 미국심장협회(AHA) 공인 기본소생술(BLS) 교육기관으로 운영되고 있으며, 이번 KALS 지정으로 기초 단계부터 전문 단계까지 아우르는 심폐소생술 통합 교육체계를 갖추게 됐다.
KALS 과정은 의사와 간호사 등 보건의료인을 대상으로 하는 고난도 응급처치 교육 프로그램이다. 심정지 환자에 대한 체계적 판단, 기도 관리 및 약물 투여, 심전도 기반 전기 치료 등 임상 중심 시뮬레이션 교육을 통해 의료진의 현장 대응 역량 강화를 목표로 한다.
이번 지정은 대학 측의 지속적인 교육 인프라 확충 노력의 결과로 평가된다. KALS 교육기관은 전문 강사진과 표준화된 교육과정, 시뮬레이션 실습 환경 등 엄격한 심사 기준을 충족해야 하며, 대구한의대는 현장 실사에서 우수한 운영 체계를 인정받은 것으로 전해졌다.
대학은 이번 성과를 교육부 ‘글로컬대학30’ 사업과 ‘RISE(지역혁신중심 대학지원체계)’ 사업과 연계해 확대해 나갈 계획이다. 재학생에게는 실무 중심의 고도화된 교육을 제공해 취업 경쟁력을 높이고, 지역 보건의료 종사자 대상 교육도 확대해 공공의료 서비스 질 향상에 기여한다는 방침이다.
구윤정 대구한의대 응급교육센터장은 “이번 KALS 기관 지정은 지역과 의료현장을 연결하는 고도화된 응급교육 플랫폼 구축의 출발점”이라며 “대구·경북을 대표하는 심폐소생술 교육 거점기관으로서 전문 인력 양성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 대구한의대는 지난해 교육부 글로컬대학30 사업 선정 이후 ‘K-MEDI 실크로드 중심대학’ 비전을 바탕으로 국제 표준 교육과정 도입과 응급상황 대응 전문인력 양성 등 지역사회와 연계한 혁신 모델 구축에 힘쓰고 있다.

The KALS course is a high-level emergency treatment training program designed for healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses. It aims to strengthen the on-site response capabilities of medical staff through clinical simulation training, covering systematic assessment of cardiac arrest patients, airway management and drug administration, and electrocardiogram-based electrical therapy. This designation is considered the result of the university's continuous efforts to expand its educational infrastructure. KALS educational institutions must meet rigorous evaluation criteria, including professional instructors, a standardized curriculum, and a simulation practice environment; it is reported that Daegu Hani University was recognized for its excellent operational system during the on-site inspection.
The university plans to expand upon this achievement by linking it with the Ministry of Education's "Glocal University 30" project and the "RISE (Regional Innovation-Oriented University Support System)" project. The university intends to enhance the employability of current students by providing advanced, practice-oriented education, and to contribute to improving the quality of public medical services by expanding training for local healthcare professionals.
Koo Yoon-jung, Director of the Emergency Education Center at Daegu Hani University, stated, "This designation as a KALS institution marks the starting point for establishing an advanced emergency education platform that connects the local community with the medical field," adding, "As a hub institution for CPR education representing Daegu and Gyeongbuk, we will do our utmost to cultivate professional personnel." Meanwhile, since being selected for the Ministry of Education's Glocal University 30 project last year, Daegu Hanyeong University has been striving to establish an innovative model linked to the local community, based on its vision of becoming a "K-MEDI Silk Road Hub University," which includes introducing an international standard curriculum and training specialized personnel for emergency response.
