4.10 총선 기간, 여당의 선거 지도부는 야당 지도자들을 범죄혐의자로 몰았다. 반면에 야당 지도부는 정권 심판론을 앞세웠다. 이번 총선 기간 내내 나라가 좌(左)와 우(右), 극단으로 치우쳐, 금방이라도 절단(切斷)이 날 것 같은 위기감이 감돌았다.
필자는 지난 4월5일 본지(브레이크뉴스)에 게재한 “범(凡) 야권이 의석 수 200석 이상 차지한다면?..."윤석열 정권붕괴 대비“ 제목의 칼럼에서 ”범 야권이나 집권 여당 중 어느 한쪽이 200석 이상을 차지하는 이변(異變)이 일어난다면, 어떻게 될까? 우리 사회에 우려(憂慮)의 시각이 존재한다. 어느 쪽이 큰 의석 차이로 압승을 하든, 사회의 혼란(混亂)이 올 수도 있다는 전망“이라고 쓴 바 있다. 필자는 위의 글에서 이번 총선에서 야권이 대승할 경우, 또는 여권이 대승할 경우를 아래와 같은 시나리오로 전망했다.
“[윤석열 정권의 궤멸]한국의 좌파는 광화문 촛불집회를 통해 박근혜 정권의 탄핵을 성사 시켰다. 이의 결과, 문재인 정권을 탄생 시켰다. 이런 전례가 보여주듯이 범 야권은 윤석열 정권의 탄핵을 추진, 궤멸작전에 돌입할 수 있다는 시나리오의 상정(上程)이 가능하다. 이게 현실화 될 경우, 우리나라 정치권은 윤석열 정권의 붕괴를 대비해야만 한다.
어느 사회이든지 중도(中道)와 좌우(左右)로 나뉜다. 건강한 사회-국가는 중도 50%가 좌우(左右)를 조종(操縱)할 수 있는 사회-국가이다. 우리나라 역시 중도주의가 강화되고 있고, 중도가 대세인 사회로 가야된다고 본다. 중도는 필요에 따라, 자의적으로 힘을 행사할 수 있다.
대통령리더십연구원(원장=최진 박사)은 지난 3월 8일 국회 의원회관에서 “22대 총선과 중도혁명”이란 주제로 토론회를 가졌다. 이날 토론회 때 최진 대통령리더십연구원 원장은 주제발표에서 “한국정치는 겉으로 거대 양당이 지배하는 양극단 시대처럼 보이지만 실제로는 중도 층이 갈수록 넓어지고 강화되어 막판에 대세를 판가름하는 중도시대가 도래했다”면서 “중도시대에는 양극단 세력 간 대결이 치열하게 맞붙을수록 양측이 팽팽하기 때문에, 오히려 중도층의 영향력이 커져서 결정적인 고비에 중도층이 어느 한쪽을 좀 더 지지하여 박빙 승부를 내는 것이 중도현상”이라고 피력했다.
전라도 경상도 유권자들은 그 동안 이미 한쪽으로 치우쳐져, 똘똘 뭉쳐 기표(記票)하는 현상을 보여왔었다. 이에 대해 이양승 군산대 교수는 “전라도민들은 돌아볼 때다. 표 몰아주기가 진정 누구를 위한 것인지, 이제 우리 자각이 필요하다. 투표는 우리 스스로 정치 수요자임을 천명하는 것이다. 권리이기도 하다. 국민의 도민의 권리를 보장하는 시스템이 바로 선거인 것“이라고 지적했다. 특정 지역의 표 쏠림 현상의 위험성을 질타했다.
이영일 전 의원은 이번 선거에 대해 “이재명의 정권 심판론과 한동훈의 입법독재 심판론이 함께 겨루게 됐다. 그러나 우리나라 유권자들이 진영논리에 매몰된 사람들도 있겠지만 대다수는 직접 투표용지 앞에 서면 선택을 놓고 중대결심을 하게 된다. '덜 나쁜 미래'가 무엇인가를 선택한다“고 분석했다.
필자는 정치적으로 건강한 대한민국을 위해 중도주의의 승리를 묵상한다. 박상병 교수는 “중도정치에 기반한 제 7공화국이 반드시 생겨나야 한다. 이를 통한 다당제도가 형성되어 정당 간 건강한 경쟁체제를 만들어야 한다”고 전망했다. 대한민국의 미래정권은 중도정권-제7공화국이기를 희구(希求)한다. moonilsuk@naver.com
