세종시교육청이 세종교육 3대 핵심정책과제인「교육활동 중심 학교」 추진과 학교지원체제를 강화하기 위해 2024년 7월 1일 자 조직개편을 시행한다.

교육청 내.외부 직원이 함께 참여하는 조직개편 TF팀 추진단 협의 등 과정을 거쳐 학교지원 전담기구로 직속기관인 ‘학교지원본부’를 신설한다.
본청과 직속기관 기능 재정립과 인력 재배치를 위해 조직에 대한 재설계를 추진, 조직에 대한 기능 구체화 실시, 학교 지원을 위한 조직 체계화 등 3가지 조직개편 추진 방향을 설정했다.
조직에 대한 재설계 추진을 위해 본청은 3국 1관 1담당관 13과 53담당 3센터에서 3국 2관 1담당관 11과 51담당 1센터로 개편하여, 2과 2담당 2센터를 축소하고, 직속기관은 학교지원 기능의 유기적 연계를 고려하여 학교지원 기능을 더욱 강화하기 위하여 학교지원 전담기구로 학교지원본부를 신설하여 시설지원사업소와 학생화해중재원을 통합함으로써 현행 6기관 17부에서 5기관 14부로 개편한다.
교육청은 이어 조직에 대한 기능 구체화 실시를 위해 정책기획과와 미래교육과를 재편하여 부교육감 직속으로 학교 중심의 기획 기능을 통합한 미래기획관을 신설하고, 학교급별 수요에 맞는 교육과정 총괄, 범교과 업무 추진, 기초기본학력 업무 집중 추진 등을 위해 학교정책과를 신설하며, 다양한 직종별 근로자와의 협력적 관계 강화와 교육공무직원 실무 통합 수행을 위한 전담부서로 노사정책과를 신설한다.
