윤석열 대통령이 22일 "2030년 과학기술 글로벌 3대 국가로 도약할 수 있도록 육성하겠다"며 "3대 게임체인저 기술 AI(인공지능)·반도체·첨단바이오·퀀텀(양자) 분야에 집중 투자하고 동맹국과 전략적 협력하겠다"고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오후 경기 과천 국립과천과학관에서 열린 '2024 과학기술·정보통신의 날' 행사에 참석해 축사에서 "대한민국이 첨단 과학기술 분야에서 퍼스트 무버(F선도자)가 될 수 있게 혁신적이고 도전적 연구를 전폭 지원하겠다"며 이같이 말했다.
현직 대통령의 과학기술·정보통신의 날 기념식 참석은 지난 2016년 박근혜 전 대통령 이후 8년 만이다.
과학기술·정보통신의 날은 지난 7년 과학기술처 출범일인 과학의 날(4월 21일)과 1884년 우정총국 설립일인 정보통신의 날(4월 22일)을 기념하는 날로 지난 2013년 미래창조과학부가 출범하면서 함께 기념되고 있다.
