영국 북아일랜드 벨파스트 대표단 일행이 세종시의회를 공식 방문했다.
세종시의회에 따르면 1일 세종시의회 의정실에서 영국 북아일랜드 수도 벨파스트시(시장 라이언 머피) 대표단 일행을 공식 접견하고 상호 교류 및 협력 방안에 대해 논의했다고 밝혔다.
이번 영국 대표단은 세종시와 우호적 관계를 맺고 있는 벨파스트시를 비롯해 북아일랜드무역투자청, 영국지역혁신공단, 퀸즈 및 얼스터대학교 관계자 등 13명으로 구성됐다.
세종시의회에서는 이순열 의장과 박란희 제1부의장, 이현정 산업건설위원장, 의회사무처장 등 간부 공무원이 참석했다.
세종시의회 이순열 의장은 영국 대표단을 만난 자리에서 라이언 머피 벨파스트시장을 비롯한 대표단에 환영의 뜻을 전하며 환담을 나눴다.
특히 세종시의회와 영국 대표단은 인구와 평균 연령, 스마트도시 등 유사성을 띠고 있는 두 도시의 혁신 및 협력의 필요성에 대해 깊은 공감대를 형성했다.

아울러, 두 도시의 미래 비전과 정책 과제 발굴과 관련하여 지속적으로 교류하며 세종시의회와 벨파스트시 간 우호 관계를 이어 나가기로 했다.
