오는 29일부터 6월 21일까지 모집하는 ‘미래모빌리티학교’는 중학교 자유학기제 특화 진로교육 프로그램과, 초등학교 창의적 체험활동으로 청소년들이 미래 모빌리티에 대한 시야를 넓히고 진로를 탐색하는데 도움을 주기 위한 수업으로 구성된다.
자유학기제는 중학교 1학년 1학기·2학기, 2학년 1학기 중 한 학기를 선택해 해당 학기 동안 진로 탐색 등 다양한 체험 활동과 토론·실험·실습 등이 가능하도록 교육 과정을 운영하는 제도를 말한다.
2016년 민간기업 최초로 교육부와 업무협약을 체결하고 개발한 미래모빌리티학교는 2024년 1학기까지 2355개 국내 초·중등학교 및 해외 학교, 약 9만5600명의 학생을 대상으로 운영돼 왔다. 모빌리티 산업 발전 과정, 자율주행·로보틱스 등 혁신적 모빌리티 기술이 열어갈 미래를 몸소 체험할 수 있는 학생 주도 활동형 프로그램으로 교육계로부터 꾸준히 호평을 받고 있다.

농어촌 지역·특성화 학교의 참여 기회를 높이기 위해 선발 시 별도 심사를 진행해 미래 모빌리티 산업을 이끌어갈 청소년들에게 균등한 교육 기회를 제공할 계획이다.
수업은 중학생 대상 정규 및 단기 프로그램과 초등학교 4-6학년 대상의 초등 프로그램으로 돼 있다.
중등 정규 프로그램은 ‘클린 모빌리티로 누리는 스마트시티 라이프’를 주제로 진행되며, 중등 단기 프로그램은 ‘인간 중심 미래 스마트 시티’, 초등 프로그램은 ‘미래 모빌리티가 만드는 지속 가능한 일상’을 주제로 진행된다.
